Safer Internet Day 2025
This year, Safer Internet Day will take place on the Tuesday 11h February, with the theme ‘Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online‘.
Intent
As children are using the Internet more and more, they are open to more risks and challenges. These often cannot be avoided but it is our intent to teach our children how to manage risks and what they can do if they are exposed to a difficult situation and who they can talk to.
At school on Safer Internet Day, we will be learning about what scamming is, how it could take place and what we can do if we are worried about being scammed. We continually reinforce the importance of speaking to a trusted adult, whether that is at home or in school. It is essential that we teach our children how to use the Internet safely both at school and at home.
Online safety in school
At Matchborough First School Academy we use Project Evolve to support our planning when teaching Computing lessons. The Project Evolve toolkit is based on the UKCIS framework ‘Education for a connected world.’ It covers the knowledge and skills to support our children in their online lives from Early Years onwards and to develop their use of online technology. We understand the importance of online safety and the children spend the Autumn term on the topic digital literacy. If you would like to find out more about our Computing curriculum, then please speak to your child’s class teacher or follow this link to our school website: Computing | Matchborough First School Academy.
